Hello and welcome to REFRACT, my public notebook sharing exciting ideas that catch my attention across disciplines. I have long contemplated launching a blog to document learnings on this quest for wider understanding. Previous attempts remained prototypes until now. I look at these past attempts not as failures but as lessons learned. Having established a goal of weekly publishing, I intend on fully igniting this launchpad for curiosity in 2024 and beyond!

Why “REFRACT”? Much like white light refracts into dazzling rainbow spectrums when meeting glass or water, information entering our minds bends, transforms, and multiplies into unique perspectives based on individual experiences. As we welcome novel concepts, our preexisting beliefs may stretch and shift into broader worldviews. Equally, revisiting “settled” theories from evolved vantage points can unveil overlooked facets, revealing deeper truths.

This ever-changing dance between established ideas and new data sits at the core of REFRACT. I aim to transparently chronicle my process of consuming information across fields, tracing how accumulating knowledge continuously reshapes my mental models. At times this means showcasing half-baked theories still in their infancy, conflicts yet to be reconciled. Other posts spotlight elegant new frameworks only made possible by progressing through friction.

Through this unfiltered look into my own sense-making cycles, my hope is to spark further productive discourse. Perhaps collective enlightenment emerges somewhere between openness, imagination’s permutations, and reasoning’s constraints. Where exactly each thread weaves next remains delightfully uncertain. I only ask you, dear reader, to bring an abundance of curiosity for the odyssey ahead!
